Frequently asked questions
Does it cost money?
No. The Almond Orchard does not charge any fees for studying. You only need an internet connection to download the app and access the courses.
What device do I need?
Any smartphone connected to the internet will do.
Do I need internet all the time while studying?
No. You need internet to download the app, create an account, and start a course. As soon as you begin a course, the app will download the lessons automatically, so you can continue studying offline. The app will save the progress on your device. When you connect to the internet again, your progress will be updated. If you delete the app before connecting to the internet, your recent progress may be lost.
Is my progress lost when I delete the app?
Your progress is saved each time you have an internet connection. If you use the app offline, your progress will be updated the next time you are connected. If you delete the app and install it again, you can continue where you left off by logging in with your username and password. If you delete your account, your progress will be lost.
Can my sister learn on the same device?
Yes, she can. Each person, however, should create their own account, so you can both study at your own pace and choose the topics you prefer.
Do I need any previous education?
If you know some English, it is helpful, since we don’t have many materials in Pashto or Dari yet.
How much time do I need?
You can take as much or little time as you have available.
Do I have to study at a specific time?
No. You decide when you can study best.
Further courses
You might be wondering about further subjects. What about Dari or Pashto? What about history or geography? What about practical skills like first aid or handicrafts? Our team is continuously expanding the courses. The Almond Orchard is growing.
If there is a subject you would like to learn, you are welcome to let us know.
I want to help with the school; how can I do that?
That’s great! We need people to help translate materials into Dari and Pashto, and any other Afghan language. Contact us at: speak-with-us@almondorchard.org
